How To Win Over Depression-8 Steps to Victory If you exercise the following options every time you get depressed, Satan’s onslaughts will not affect you as much — because he’d rather leave you alone than have you worshiping God, reading the Word of God, ministering to others, etc. Certainly you will grow stronger spiritually in the process, because you’ll be exercising your spiritual muscles.1.  Worship GodNothing puts everything into perspective like gazing upon the majesty of the Almighty. Make melody to God, or listen to some anointed music: that’s what Saul did, when depressed: he called for David, the minstrel, and the anointing on David’s music caused the evil spirit that depressed and harassed him to depart. As the psalmist said: “Magnify the Lord.” When He is magnified, our perspective changes: Everything else seems smaller, less significant. 2.  Read ScriptureThe Word of God is powerful in changing our perspective on earthly things. It comforts us. “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” Rom 15:4 “This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.”  Psa 119:50 “Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?” Psa 119:81, 823.  Pray. Express your feelings to God.Prayer strengthens us (Psa 27:14; 138:3; Isa 30:15) and gives us peace (Phil 4:6, 7; Isa 26:3). 4.  Find a place of service.“Occupy till I come” (Luke 19:13)  In other words: keep busy. As the saying goes, “Idleness is the devil’s workshop.” There used to be another old saying that went something like this: “I complained that I didn’t have new shoes, till I saw someone with no feet.” There’s always someone worse off than we are. Focusing on others’ needs will keep your eyes off your own problems.5.  Take control over your thoughts“Set your affection on things above, not things on the earth” (Col 3:1) Realize that Jesus redeemed us entirely: spirit, soul and body. (Isaiah 53)6.  Keep filled with the Spirit“Be filled [literally, be being filled] with the Spirit, speaking to yourselves in songs and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord.” (Eph 5:18)7.  Walk in the SpiritDon’t give the enemy a foothold. Confess any known sin. Avoid places or people that tend to bring you down.8.  Rest in the Lord “Rest in the Lord & wait patiently for him” (Psa 37:7). “…and having done all, stand.” (Eph 6) Worrying can’t change the situation anyway. As the saying goes: “Let go and let God.” Trust in His infinite wisdom, that he has everything under control. Even a sparrow doesn’t fall to the ground without his notice, Jesus said. The very hairs of your head are numbered.

How To Win Over Depression-8 Steps to Victory

If you exercise the following options every time you get depressed, Satan’s onslaughts will not affect you as much — because he’d rather leave you alone than have you worshiping God, reading the Word of God, ministering to others, etc. Certainly you will grow stronger spiritually in the process, because you’ll be exercising your spiritual muscles.

1.  Worship God
Nothing puts everything into perspective like gazing upon the majesty of the Almighty.

2.  Read Scripture
The Word of God is powerful in changing our perspective on earthly things. It comforts us. “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” Rom 15:4 “This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.”  Psa 119:50 “Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?” Psa 119:81, 82

3.  Pray. Express your feelings to God.
Prayer strengthens us (Psa 27:14; 138:3; Isa 30:15) and gives us peace (Phil 4:6, 7; Isa 26:3).

4.  Find a place of service.
“Occupy till I come” (Luke 19:13)  In other words: keep busy. As the saying goes, “Idleness is the devil’s workshop.” There used to be another old saying that went something like this: “I complained that I didn’t have new shoes, till I saw someone with no feet.” There’s always someone worse off than we are. Focusing on others’ needs will keep your eyes off your own problems.

5.  Take control over your thoughts
“Set your affection on things above, not things on the earth” (Col 3:1) Realize that Jesus redeemed us entirely: spirit, soul and body. (Isaiah 53)

6.  Keep filled with the Spirit
“Be filled [literally, be being filled] with the Spirit, speaking to yourselves in songs and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord.” (Eph 5:18)

7.  Walk in the Spirit
Don’t give the enemy a foothold. Confess any known sin. Avoid places or people that tend to bring you down.

8.  Rest in the Lord
“Rest in the Lord & wait patiently for him” (Psa 37:7). “…and having done all, stand.” (Eph 6) Worrying can’t change the situation anyway. Question: “Does God promise to not give us more than we can handle?”
June 15th, 2011
Answer: First Corinthians 10:13 in the NKJV reads, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” This Scripture teaches us a powerful principle. If we belong to Him, God will not allow any difficulty to come into our lives that we are not capable of bearing.
So, anything that comes our way, anything that tempts us, any tragedy that befalls us—we are capable of overcoming it and achieving spiritual victory. That does not mean it will always be easy. Quite the contrary—the fact that we may need a “way of escape” indicates that God sometimes allows difficult trials to come into our lives. We may not believe that we can overcome it, we may doubt our own strength to prevail, and we may even fail in the temptation. That does not mean, though, that we are not capable of overcoming that particular temptation. Whether it is a temptation to sin or a temptation to doubt God, God promises that we will be able to overcome it.
But what does it mean to “overcome” trials? It means the trials do not overcome our faith or our position as children of God, and we come through the trials intact. Our eternal destiny is not in danger because we are kept by the Holy Spirit, who was given to us as a down payment on our salvation (Ephesians 1:13-14). No trial can overcome that because it is of God. Therefore, the child of God will stand firm through the trials and come out on the other side still in God’s hand. This is proof that our salvation is real and our reward in heaven awaits us. James 1:12 assures us, “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”

The Anchor Holds Devotional
June 14th, 2011
Hebrews 6:19 This HOPE we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
We are like that ship in this world, being tossed to and fro, needing something to steady our walk. The gospel ‘HOPE’ is our anchor for this steadiness and surety in the Lord. The grace of God and the influence of the Holy Spirit are the grounds of this hope. God is the object of this HOPE we have. Without this HOPE, Jesus Christ, we are lost out in the world today, being pushed and shoved, going no where fast! We struggle to make it through, to make ends meet, to have a life, to have peace, yet we still have a longing that nothing in this world can ease. If you don’t have the assurance of this anchor in your life, why not consider coming to Christ today? Why not give your life to God, by asking him for forgiveness of your sins, believing that he is GOD, that he died on the cross for your sins, that he was buried, arose again in 3 days, and now is at the right hand of the Father, ready to make intercession for you. Turn your life over to Him, putting your faith and trust in Him, that he will take you and mold you into what he’d have you be. You can then take solace in the fact that you now have the ANCHOR that will surely hold, no matter how much you are tossed and turned! A storm arises, and the ship is caught at sea, tossing and turning in the high waves. The only thing that will save that ship is an anchor, hopefully steadying it until the storm ceases.
